It is the policy of
the American University in Cairo to centralize its placement
services for companies seeking AUC students and alumni for
part-time/full-time employment or internships through the
office of Career Advising and Placement Services. Student
clubs or departments wishing to contact corporations for internships,
employment opportunities or giving on-campus career-related
seminars/workshops should coordinate their efforts with CAPS.
AUC students and
alumni are expected to follow business ethics and show professional
conduct throughout the job search process. In utilizing CAPS
services, you are required to follow the recruitment policy
stated below:
- By applying to a job vacancy,
you have to be seriously interested in the job and committed
to follow through the application process, or withdraw
professionally.
- If you take an interview appointment,
you are expected to show up to the interview on time.
In case of an emergency, you need to apologize to the
employer before the interview time.
- If you decide to withdraw your
application or reject an offer, you have to inform the
employer in due time.
- Once you accept a job offer
and sign the contract, you should report to work on the
agreed upon start date.
Failure to abide
by the above recruitment policy will deny you access to AUC’s
recruitment services as follows:
- Your registration with CAPS
will be placed on hold until you send an apology letter
to the employer with a copy to CAPS, within ten days of
notification.
- If you fail to send the apology
letter or break the policy for a second time, your registration
with CAPS recruitment services will be placed on hold
for six months. You will be required to meet with the
recruitment manager to reactivate your registration.
