The office of Career Advising and Placement Services (CAPS) at the American University in Cairo (AUC) organized the second career conference in January 2008. The conference took place over a span of three days, January 27-29 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The conference was open to juniors and seniors at AUC to provide them with the necessary tools required to succeed in the world of work and facilitate the decision-making process for career planning and job search process.

The conference was kicked-off on Sunday 27th by an opening reception and a keynote speech by Dr. Moataz Al Alfi the CEO for Kuwait Holding Company – EKH, who addressed the conference participants and invitees from the business community and AUC.

The conference workshops and sessions - led by distinguished leaders in the corporate community - were designed to provide juniors and seniors with an opportunity to reflect on their university experience, learn more about themselves and where they are heading, and develop the skills necessary for a successful transition to post-university life. This self-knowledge, when put together with an understanding of the world of work, helped students make a confident start in their career life and will inevitably reduce job-hopping during the first year on-the-job.
